Dear Nubra,

Thank you for visiting us YALI fellows again at UC Berkeley today. We really enjoyed the conversation and looking forward to continue the networking process. As you mentioned, we need to be proactive and try to reach out more and more. As we all discussed and agreed, the YALI team at UC Berkeley will communicate with our coordinator, Sudha, so as to see the possibility of visiting you and the other contacts at UC Santa Cruz area. We are really looking forward to meeting and exchanging cultural experiences with youth in Santa Cruz as well as other professionals whom we might have somethings in common tentatively on Saturday July 19 or around that period.

dear sudha: after speaking with hashim earlier today sounds like we plan to have two hour followup session for collaborative discussion on youth projects with those nine yali fellows who met with us last week:

Cadija Man’e (Guinea Bissau)
Samwel Mwangala (Kenya)
Usman Muhammad (Nigeria)
Jean Pierre Maro (Senegal)
Amukelani Myimele (South Africa)
Sbonelo Mkhize (South Africa)
Hashim Pondeza (Tanzania)
Cyrus Kawalya (Uganda)
Norman J. Mukwakwami (Zimbabwe)

hashim will confirm with international house program staff that there’s appropriate space for our meeting there this thursday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm but we’re also wondering about where we should park–can you say?

Hello Nubra – the lunch break is noon to 1:30p and they must be in class by 1:25p.  Why dont you come to the Goldman School – 2607 Hearst Ave Berkeley – park on the street – by 12:15p and then walk with them to their lunch place?  Do you think that works for you?

Dear Nubra,

I’m very happy to have received your email and about your work in Tanzania. I would really like to meet and talk with you regarding our engagement with youth. We usually have a lunch break between 12 noon and 1:30pm. We could meet around that time or preferably from 5 pm when I will have been done with classes. You can get some brief of our work with youth in Zanzibar via our website: http://ilpi.org/projects/centres-for-youth-dialogue-zanzibar/

Im looking forward to meeting you soon.

Regards,

dear hashim pondeza: understand you may be interested in meeting over coffee or tea to talk about my fulbright project involving tanzanian street youth in transition and work you may have been doing…

am at uc santa cruz but now thinking to make daytrip to uc berkeley early next week if there’s possibility of connecting with you on or near that campus during afternoon hours–what’s good for you?

mini-hosting yali fellows (july 1st – 8th)

dear sudha: from email received in april thought state department alums were being invited to attend mixers or other social events but would also be interested in sitting in on institute classes if possible…

am attaching article about my project work in progress and would be particularly interested in meeting with fellows from tanzania or kenya for conversation over tea or coffee about reclaiming street youth…

was tentatively planning to be in bay area during first week of july but any time could probably work for me if there’s something suitable for my participation or someone available to meet with me…
